I haven’t bought any new nail polishes in a hot minute! That’s because I already have so many that I have to go through, I never wear polish on my fingernails, and I polish my toes like once every few months. Despite my ever-growing nail polish collection, I couldn’t help myself from getting another polish from a brand I recently heard about.
This brand is called OOO Nail Polish. It’s Black-owned, and all polishes are hand-made, cruelty-free, and shades are made for underrepresented skin tones. The fact that there were colors made specifically for darker skin complexions is what won me over. I followed the account on Instagram for a few months and browsed the website a few times to find and save some shades that I liked the most. To be honest, I don’t know why it took me so long to actually buy this nail polish, and I wish I had bought it sooner because this polish is AMAZING!
OPI has always been my go-to nail polish, mainly because of the incredible names of each shade, but also because of the quality of the polish and how long they last before chipping. I still really love OPI, but this OOO Polish is definitely a game-changer. I plan on adding some more to my never-ending nail polish collection!
I decided to be bold and get a shade that I never had before: green. I never dreamed about wearing green nail polish because, unless it was a deep, dark, ugly, doo-doo green, I never thought that color would look good on my brown skin. The shade that I got is called Makeda, and it’s an emerald green. I thought the color was gorgeous, not too dark, and would complement my skin tone nicely.
Y’all. I could not get over how BEAUTIFUL this shade of green looked. I started on my toes, and when I saw how bomb the polish looked, I already knew OOO Polish was going to have a customer for life. The application was easy, and I really liked how the polish wasn’t too runny. It was a little bit different than the polish I’m used to using, but not in a bad way!
I wanted to see how long it would take before this polish started chipping and coming off, and I want to say it held up pretty well. I didn’t notice any major chipping until almost two weeks, I think. I did ruin my right index finger the day I painted them, though 😂. I think I’ve come to the conclusion that if I want my fingernails to last a long time, I have to go to the salon to get them done! After about three weeks, my toes are still looking great.
All in all, I give OOO Nail Polish a 10/10. I think I’ll start getting all the shades that I thought were bold like yellow, orange, and gold. I definitely want to start getting colors I don’t already have. If you want to support your small, Black-owned businesses, definitely buy some polish from OOO Nail polish!
Thanks so much for reading!
