New Head & Shoulders Royal Oils Line

You guys, I’m so excited! I recently found out that Head & Shoulders created a new line designed for curly and textured hair, and ya’ll, I’m all for it πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ

Fun story: I used to use Head & Shoulders shampoo and conditioner before I went natural. I had a bad problem with dry scalp and dandruff, then I came across H&S at Walmart. I used the Green Apple shampoo and conditioner, and it worked wonders. After using it for a while, I had no more issues with dandruff and dry scalp. I loved that line so much, and I never looked back.

Until I started going natural 6 years ago. I thought I should use products designed for my hair type, so I ditched the Head & Shoulders and began using Cantu. I don’t remember having much of a problem with dandruff after I switched, so I thought I was okay.

Lately, however, I’ve been having a HUGE problem with my scalp being extra dry and super itchy! It always gets worse when I have weave in. Back in March, I decided to try out OGX’s Quenching Coconut Curls shampoo and conditioner to help with moisture, and I enjoy using it a lot. I really loved the conditioner because it has so much slip! Not to mention my curls look AMAZING after shampooing and conditioning. Sadly, I still struggle with a dry and itchy scalp.

I came across an Instagram ad from Head & Shoulders about a Royal Oils collection for curly and textured hair, and do you know how happy I got?? Since it worked so well for me in the past, I was too excited to learn that they have a line specifically designed for people with my hair type! I just had to get my hands on it!

I tried looking for this line at Walmart, my local beauty supply store, and Walgreens with no luck; I did find them at Target earlier this week, though. Once I take my hair down, I want to get the shampoo and conditioner to try out. Afterward, I’ll start getting all the other products from the Royal Oils collection. I can’t wait to see how they work!

I was so eager to try this line that I already bought one of the products when I went to Target that day. I got the Daily Moisture Scalp Cream to use for my unbearably itchy scalp. It smelled good, and I did get instant relief from the itching, but it made my scalp burn after a while 😳 I quickly checked to see if it had propylparaben, an ingredient I think I’m allergic to, in it, and sure enough, it did.

That killed me because I was so looking forward to trying out the entire line but didn’t want to get an allergic reaction each time. I did check the ingredients for all the other products online, and nothing else had propylparaben in it, which was a huge relief. Even though the moisture scalp cream was a big let-down (entirely my fault for not checking the ingredients before buying it), I still want to give the other products a shot before giving up on H&S for good. I’m feeling pretty optimistic.

Stay tuned for my review on the Head & Shoulders Royal Oils collection. Thanks for reading!
